Why was Oz written in the background throughout Liam Neeson's Unknown?

I do not know if the filmmakers were trying to send a secret message to the audience or not, but in the movie the characters always seem to end up in a setting with a lot of graffiti and there is always the word, “OZ” written on the wall.
