Naming my puppy after my ex, is it a good way to recover?

The last time I had contact with my ex was about March. And I may see him again, but clearly not anytime soon, so I really don't have to worry about running into him. My friend wants to give me a puppy so I can smother all my love unto it and get it over the loss. This puppy is a black chihuahua and so cute... yet the only name I want to give it is- Bret, after my ex... maybe name it, Good Bret, or Brett with two Ts... I dunno. ...But I'm guessing that's going to make me look a little crazy, when I introduce my dog around to my friends... come on... maybe just a little? -whats another good name?
